Afternoon Tea at the Globe
Great news: up to 9 June 2012 you can enjoy a true English Tea at the Globe Theatre, the reconstruction of the theatre where William Shakespeare‘s company used to performe. The original building was destroyed by fire in 1613.
As I said, until June 9 2012 (except for Sundays and the week of the Diamond Jubilee) you can take a guided tour of the theatre and then enjoy a classic English Afternoon Tea with sandwiches, cakes, scones at the Swan Bar, overlooking the Thames and St Paul’s Cathedral. All this costs £ 26.95 (approx € 33) each, for a maximum of 8 persons per group. You have to book and receive confirmation at least 72 hours of the visit, which will take place between 9.30am and 12.30pm. The tea will be served from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

The Diamond Jubilee
This is a special year for Uk and especially for London due to the Olympics, but to a very important anniversary, as well: 60 years of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, the Diamond Jubilee! In the history of the ountry, she is the third monarch who manage to reach this extraordinary result, together with Queen Victoria and King George III (data from the official website of the jubilee).
To celebrate this outstanding achievement, there are cups, plates, … but also teas…
Twinings proposes a blend produced for the Jubilee of 2002, limited edition. It is a blend of black teas (second flush) from Assam, especially from the north-east Brahmaputra Valley, and from Yunnan, southwest China. The tea, available in cans of 100 g of three different colors, are on sale from April 2012 but only for the English market. Of course you can find everything online at Twinings.co.uk
Whittard, in addition to cups, created a blend made from black tea of Ceylon flavored with calendula petals and aromas of peach and apricot. Available in stores or online
Harrods has lots to propose about the argument “Diamond Jubilee”. Still cups and dishes, but also shopping bags, playing cards, keychains, perfume, coins, placemats, tea cozy, chocolates, biscuits, jam, egg, and tea, of Course … Again, the base is a mixture of black teas blacks flavored, however, with rosebuds. I tried it with my sister and we loved it. One flaw: it was already sweetened and we would have done without . You can buy it online
As our reader Duccio reported last week, even at Fortnum & Mason there is an interesting Jubilee Tea: a blend of leaves from India, Ceylon and China in a beautiful tin box with the unicorn. Maybe this is my favorite pack! To buy on internet, as well
Have you seen or heard of other packages or nice things on the Jubilee? Just tell us!!!
